A small, casual climbing game, work in progress.

The world is a Goldberg sphere of 12 pentagons
and 80 hexagons. You stand on one hex and step to an adjacent hex. The goal is the single highest hex.

The climb has a limit. You start with a climb ability of zero, so you cannot step up. Three cards are placed in the world. Each card raises the climb ability by one level.

How to Play

  • Move with the number keys 1 through 6. Each key is one neighbor.
  • Or click a neighbor tile.
  • Click the background to turn the view by one hex step.
  • Collect three cards to climb to the peak.

Rules

  • Pentagons and a generated part of the hexagons are landscape. You cannot walk on them.
  • A total descent of three levels costs one card. A climb resets the descent counter.
  • One move that drops more than three levels ends the run.
  • Reach the peak to win.

Features

  • Procedural worlds from a seed.
  • A sky with a day and night cycle. The sun position and the weather set the light and the colors.
  • A campaign of three levels.

Status

Work in progress. The rules and the look will probably change.

Dev Notes

Built with Bevy 0.20 and Rust.
The game runs in the browser with WebAssembly. The star positions come from the Hipparcos and Yale Bright Star catalogs through the d3-celestial crate.
